Requirements for Obtaining a Nonimmigrant Visa
As established in Decree No 7240/06, the requirements for obtaining a non-immigrant visa are the following:
- A signed passport (valid for at least 6 months prior to its expiration date, and with at least one blank page available for the visa stamp) along with two photocopies of its first page where the personal information is written.
- Two copies of the visa application form per applicant, properly and completely filled in.
- Two recent 2" x 2" passport photos in color.
- A letter from the employer or sponsoring company and a photocopy of said letter when traveling for business purposes

- A visa fee payment of US$ 65.00 per visa will be charged for multiple entry visas and a fee of US$45.00 for one-entry visas. Payments can be made in cash, money order or check in the name of the Embassy of Paraguay.
- Any other document that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy or the Consular Office might require in order to verify the authenticity of the above mentioned requirements.
When applying for a visa for a minor under 18, both parents must sign the application or one parent or tutor signs and submits second parent's notarized statement of consent authorizing the minor to travel (in case the minor is traveling with only one parent). Two copies of the minor's birth certificate and two copies of the parent's IDs are also necessary .

Monday through Friday, except holidays
For cases in which U.S. Passports are sent to Paraguayan Consulates by mail to receive visas for entry into Paraguay, it is recommended that said passports be remitted 20 days in advance of the respective trip, accompanied by a prepaid return envelope, if possible using readily available express mail services. These recommendations are made with the purpose of avoiding delays in the receipt of the applicant’s documents.
Requirements for Obtaining a Permanent or Temporary Visa
Permanent or temporary visas are issued according to the requirements established in Law No. 978/96. The documentation is sent to the Passport Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Paraguay and then to the General Office of Migration, who will later authorize to issue the permanent of temporary visa and will notify its decision to the Consular Office where the application was initiated.
